Upper Oakville Shopping Centre Presents the first Community Cup Basketball Tournament:
Upper Oakville Shopping Centre has been an integral part of the Oakville landscape since 1986. For over 21 years they have been Oakville’s Original Lifestyle Shopping Centre, providing convenient, friendly service to all of their customers.
As a long time supporter of community events, we are pleased to introduce our community event, a 3 on 3 basketball tournament to be held on Sunday, May 25th. Named “The Jim Horgan Community Cup” by organizer Ken Stockstill, in honour of a very special friend, tireless fundraiser and supporter of the shopping centre.
Our tournament include four divisions:
1. 12 & under
2. 13 – 15 year old
3. 16 – 18 year old
4. Open Division (for adults or mixed age groups).
*Each division is limited to 12 teams totaling 48 teams in total.
Courts will be set up in the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre parking lot, and each team entered is guaranteed at least 3 games.
The tournament is open to all that enjoy the game of basketball. The 3 on 3 format is very popular in many neighbourhoods in the United States, and we think that this format will work well here. Teams will be made up of 5 members allowing teams to sub players when necessary. We really hope groups of friends, co-workers or neighbours will join together, form a team, have a really great time, and help an important cause at the same time.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton
All sponsors will be included in our advertising campaign, including a listing on our website www.oakvilleshops.com, which has over 39,309 visits per year.
